There will be a minute’s silence before the Coppa Italia semi-finals, at the end of which the players will turn to applaud healthcare workers on the pitch.
A statement from the Lega Serie A confirmed the initiative in agreement with the Minister for Health.
Juventus-Milan is set for June 12, with Napoli-Inter on June 13, and the Final in Rome on June 17, the first Italian games back after three months of COVID-19 crisis.
“To commemorate all the victims of the pandemic, a minute’s silence will be observed before kick-off in the two semi-finals,” read a statement this evening.
“At the end of this, the teams and match officials will applaud the three healthcare professionals who will be present on the pitch along with the players.
“The three healthcare workers will symbolically represent all those nurses, doctors, medics, researchers, operators and others who worked so tirelessly in the fight against COVID-19.
“The world of football wants to give its thanks to them.”
These matches will be played behind closed doors.
