Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso believes Milan should keep Paolo Maldini as a director. ‘He can still do very good things for them.’
Gattuso and Maldini won two Champions Leagues together as players for Milan and resumed their relationship last season, when Rino was coach and the ex-defender returned in an executive capacity.
The 51-year-old is expected to leave at the end of the season, with Ralf Rangnick set to come in, but his former teammate feels he could still do a job for the Rossoneri.
“The Maldini family wrote important pages in Milan’s history,” he said after yesterday’s 2-2 draw between his past and present clubs.
“There can be no debate about him as a man, but I think he can still do very good things for Milan as a director.”
The former Italy midfielder now wants to make his mark at Napoli, adding to last month’s Coppa Italia success.
“I hope to stay at Napoli for as long as possible and write important pages for this club and this beautiful city.”
