AC Milan could revive their interest in Giovani Lo Celso after Tottenham’s reluctance to sign the Argentine midfielder permanently.

Giovani Lo Celso was one of the big deadline transfers last summer. Tottenham announced the signing of the Argentine midfielder on loan with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season. However, the arrival of Jose Mourinho could change the final destination of the 23-year-old.

After a fantastic season on loan at Real Betis scoring 16 goals Lo Celso is suffering in England. He has made 6 Premier League appearances, mostly as a substitute, but not a single minute under the Portuguese coach. The season of the former PSG midfielder has been influenced a lot by a hip injury while on international duty for Argentina.

If breaking into the starting eleven was hard under Mauricio Pochettino it will be even more difficult with the Portuguese coach. In the first two matches with Mourinho in charge the Argentine international had to sit on the bench for the entire 90 minutes. According to the English press Tottenham are willing to cut Lo Celso’s loan short and inform Real Betis that they will not make his signing permanent.

Giovani Lo Celso could soon become a transfer opportunity for many clubs. The talented central midfielder is an old transfer target of AC Milan and the Rossoneri could revamp their interest in Lo Celso considering their midfield problems. A young and quality player with experience at international level would be welcomed at San Siro.

The price tag of Giovani Lo Celso is certainly not low but AC Milan could have a winning card to facilitate a move. Real Betis are reportedly big fans of Samu Castillejo and would be willing to negotiate. Since his 2018 move to AC Milan Castillejo has failed to perform constantly but the right winger remains a figure of interest among Spanish clubs. Tottenham paid nearly €20 million for Lo Celso’s loan and had a €40 million option to make the move permanent.
