With just three days away from the Derby della Madonnina, Tuttosport (via MilanLive.it) has tried to predict the two starting line-ups that Antonio Conte and Stefano Pioli are going to field.
The Milan XI Pioli will hold to the 4-4-2, the paper claims, with Gianluigi Donnarumma in the goal and Andrea Conti and Theo Hernandez having a full-back partnership – with the former suffering tonsillitis over the weekend. Simon Kjaer is reportedly set to begin with Mateo Musacchio and partner Alessio Romagnoli.
Ismael Bennacer will return from ban in the midfield with Frank Kessie partnering with him on the wings along with Samuel Castillejo and Hakan Calhanoglu. There’s no question up front: Zlatan Ibrahimovic will pair up again with Rafael Leao.
Possible XI (4-4-2) of AC Milan: Donnarumma; Conti, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Castillejo, Kessie, Bennacer, Calhanoglu; Ibrahimovic, Leao.
The Inter XI It will be a 3-5-2 for Antonio Conte, and despite having suffered a finger injury Samir Handanovic is currently set to start with a defensive trio consisting of Diego Godín, Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar between the posts.
Marcelo Brozovic will be the regista in the midfield, with Matias Vecino and Niccolo Barella on his left and right respectively. Christian Eriksen is set to be on the bench.
In spite of Lautaro Martinez’s suspension, Antonio Candreva and Ashley Young will serve as wing-backs and provide a front to Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
Inter probable XI (3-5-2): Candreva, Vecino, Brozovic, Barella, Young; Godín, de Vrij, Skriniar; Lukaku, Sanchez.
